Wine Bitten
Ingredients
About 10 Large or 15 small Brussels Sprouts, quartered or halved into bite sized pieces
1 Bell Pepper--Red or Green-Chopped
1 Onion-Chopped
1 bottle Brown Ale (one on the sweeter side)
2 or more Hot Italian Sausage or other Sausage of your choice
Salt & Pepper
Beer Braised Brussels Sprouts with Sausage & Peppers
Cook it
Saute Onion until Caramalized
Add Bell Pepper about 1/2 way thru
If you have Italian Sausage, slice it (or roll into balls), and bake at 400 degrees until browned, so it is slightly crisp. At the same time
Bake Brussels Sprouts about 10 minutes at 400 degrees, until softened but still crunchy.
Place Brussels sprouts in saute pan, add Ale to cover, bring to a boil, reduce heat, simmer for about 10 minutes
Add Onion, Bell Pepper & sausage, simmer with more ale if necessary.
Season with Salt & Pepper.
Serve Toasty with Beer or Wine--a lighter red or a white calling for some spice.
If your ale is too bitter, add some honey or agave nectar to even it out.
Pair with medium bodied red wine blend or white wine blend, slightly sweeter blends.
